How To Install The Exit Intent Trigger Component

The Exit Intent Trigger detects when visitors are about to leave your page and triggers popups at the perfect moment to boost conversions. This component works exclusively with PageOverlay to display your popup content. This guide covers installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for optimal exit intent detection.

Quick Start

  1. Make sure the PageOverlay component is active on the page - Insert PageOverlay at page level (outside frames) and set Active to "YES"

  2. Insert Exit Intent Trigger at page level - Add the component at page level (outside frames)

  3. Configure sensitivity - Set sensitivity (10-200px from top of page)

  4. Add popup content - Place your popup content in the Popup Content slot

  5. Test in preview mode - Move your mouse to the top of the page to test

Prerequisites

The Exit Intent Trigger requires PageOverlay to function properly:

// PageOverlay must be installed and active for Exit Intent Trigger to work
// PageOverlay must be positioned at page level (outside any frames)
// Both components work together - neither works without the other

Important Setup Notes:

  • Both PageOverlay and Exit Intent Trigger must be positioned at page level (outside frames)

  • Component is automatically disabled on mobile devices

Troubleshooting

Issue: Trigger doesn't activate when mouse leaves top of page

Check that sensitivity is set appropriately and PageOverlay is active. Try increasing sensitivity value.

Issue: Popup doesn't appear

Ensure PageOverlay component is installed at page level and Active property is set to "YES". Check that popup content is added to the Popup Content slot. For testing purposes, set cookie settings to "Always Show".

Issue: Component doesn't show on mobile devices

This is normal behavior - the component is automatically disabled on mobile devices even though it may appear in the Framer canvas. Exit intent behavior doesn't work well on touch interfaces.

Issue: Popup appears too frequently

Adjust the Show Frequency setting to control how often the popup displays. Use "Once per Session" or time-based options to reduce frequency.

Issue: PageOverlay not working

Ensure PageOverlay is added directly to the page (not in a Framer template) and positioned at page level outside any frames.

Issue: Scroll lock not working

Ensure Scroll Lock is enabled in properties. Note that scroll lock may not work properly with Smooth Scroll components.

Issue: Close button not visible

Check Close Btn Size and Close Btn BG color settings. Ensure the button color contrasts with your popup background.
